Plot
Every year, the army's training camp within Wall Rose takes in a new batch of trainees, 12 at the youngest, though most are at least 14 or 15. There is no difference in training between males and females; though the training is intense, both physically and mentally and many drop out within the first few weeks. However, to those that persevere and follow their training to the end, there is the option of joining three branches of the military:
-The Stationary Guard (The Garrison):
The most common path for trained soldiers, this division is identifiable by the red rose symbol on their jackets. The Stationary Guard take care of all defenses for the Wall whether it be patrols, repairs, or improvements. As such, they spend much of their time preparing for attacks against the Wall. The Stationary Guard man the cannons on the Wall ledge that is often used for long-range Titan assault. They must also deal with civilian evacuation and have emergency plans for dealing with scenarios where the Wall is breached.
-The Scouting Legion (The Survey Corps):
A less common path for trained soldiers, given the high mortality rate. They are the division that actively fights Titans, providing research on the subject; they are in charge of the exploration and the eventual reclamation of human territory. They are identified by the symbol bearing black and white wings.
-The Military Police:
The division of the military that only the top ten alumni from training may join. Identified by the green unicorn symbol they bear, these soldiers act as both the police force within human territory and the personal guard to the King. They are also in charge of tax collection and land distribution, and are equipped with firearms, needing special permission to use 3DMG.
Whichever path a trainee takes, they will all have received the same training and education on Titans and how to combat them physically, as well as logistics and mechanical studies regarding the 3DMG.
The current story centres around both trainees and their superiors from all divisions of the military, within Wall Rose and Wall Sina. Since the breach of Wall Rose two years before, nerves have been racked and tensions have been high. The Military Police is rife with corruption, the Stationary Guard live in fear of another attack, and the Scouting Legion full of what many would describe as madmen. But in spite of it all, there are those that wish to eradicate the Titans from the world - for good.
