There can be multiples of numbers Two through Ten.
King - Overall head of the Kingdom and foreign affairs. Wields most authority and can override anybody, unless the Queen, Jack, and Ace intervene together.
Queen - Head of domestic affairs and partner in authority to the King.
Jack - The right hand of the King and Queen and their main adviser. Basically the babysitter of the entire Kingdom, but the castle in particular. They hold great power and are addressed as 'Lord' or 'Lady'.
Ace - The Kingdom's champion as determined by combat tournaments. Recognized by other royals as capable opinion and figurehead and an eye into the common people.
Ten - Other advisers to the King and Queen, unrelated to the Jack but can work with whomever the Jack may be to discuss matters for the Kingdom's well-being. There can be several advisers: financial, social welfare, and public relations.
Nine - Ambassadors to the other Kingdoms. Kings and Queens generally do not leave their own Kingdoms, although may happen on special occasions. The King works closely with the ambassadors.
Eight - The nobles of the Kingdoms. They are not usually related with the Royal Court and typically have their own manors and households across the Kingdoms.
Seven - Knights and soldiers in the military. Includes commanders, knights, and all other military ranks. If you wish to be a Seven please specify what rank. for Knight and Commander an explanation similar to face cards/ace is required.
Six - Maestors. This includes doctors, apothecaries, inventors, scribes, as well as scholars. They have a wide range of knowledge and are crucial in times of disease and calamity.
Five - Handmaidens and other personal assistants to the King, Queen, and Jack. Each Royal will have their own.
Four - Mainly squires to the Knights of the military, as well as messengers for the Royals and others if needed.
Three - Entertainment, artisans, and traders. Includes professions such as blacksmiths, tailors, fletchers, etc.
Two - Maids, cooks, servants and other working personnel. The lowest ranking people in the castle and it's highly likely you will never know them by name -- unless you know them personally, of course.
Joker - The wildcards of the Kingdoms. Jokers belong to no suit and are given the most freedom - they are, however, the least trusted among all.
[li]King and Queen are just that - titles. They do not need to be married, but there is also no law saying they can't marry.[/li]
[li]Kings deal strictly with foreign affairs; Queens with domestic affairs. Jacks function as personal advisers to both and oversee their duties.[/li]
[li]Heirs to the throne can be either born or appointed. In many cases, if an heir is not born or appointed, the suit's Ace will replace the lost King or Queen. Heirs require extensive knowledge and training to be deemed appropriate to succeed any of the Royal Court (except for Aces). If an heir is born and not suited to becoming King, Queen, or Jack, they will remain Prince/Princess until they take on another Number when they are of age.[/li]
[li]Card numbers ten through two have varying ranks in social society ranking from high advisers or ambassadors to a common maid respectively.[/li]
[li]Suit Aces are chosen during annual tournaments. It is not uncommon for an Ace to win several tournaments in a row until they officially retire. As Aces, they tend to be the Grand Champions and the most skilled soldier in their kingdom [/li]
[li]Anyone in the kingdom is eligible to participate in the tournaments that determine the Ace.[/li]
[li]Soldiers enlist in the military (at age eighteen minimum) and ranks and roles within the military are to be determined by their skill and how they improve.[/li]
[li]Knights are generally discovered through tournaments. Strictly speaking, if one is a skilled enough warrior to reach the top brackets of the annual tournament, then they are easily skilled enough to be knights. Knights can also earn their ranking by moving up from enlistment.[/li]
[li]It is possible to move up in rank and climb the social ladder, but falling back down the ladder is a permanent change that cannot be reversed or altered in any way.[/li]
[li]The time of age when a child turns into an adult is 18.[/li]
[li]Exiled cards lose their color and suit and become black, and thrown into the Underground, a dungeon of epic proportions in which there is no natural light, and is infested with vicious beasts thirsting for blood.[/li]
[li]All suits live together in relative harmony with no obvious dissent between them. The Spades, Diamonds, Clubs, and Hearts are all required to make a complete set. If one is lost, all the others will fall.[/li]
[li]Jokers have no specific suit, but they are by no means useless. The least reliable of all cards, their sole purpose is to distribute information, but in the end ultimately have nowhere they belong. They have incredible passive luck, and are said to be in direct servitude to the goddess Lady Luck.[/li]
[li]Whether by magic or otherwise, Jokers are very skilled at vanishing somehow. They simply get "lost."[/li]
[li]Rarely are Jokers ever addressed by name. They are defined by their dress, behavior and mannerisms, and not by who they are. In most cases they are simply called Joker, and their true names are never known. Blanks, however, tend to know who Jokers truly are, but like most people they do not use their name except in the utmost secrecy.
[/li][li]There are Blank cards, which special abilities. Blank cards are the Priestess and Monk, under the servitude of the goddess Lady Luck along with the Jokers. However, opposed to the Jokers, they are trusted immensely by everyone in the four Kingdoms and can be visited at any time.
[/li][li]The goddess known and respected in all Kingdoms is Lady Luck. There are shrines dedicated for her in each Kingdom, but the Kingdom of Hearts is home to the main shrine. The Priestess and Monk reside in the main shrine, and anybody can come to seek their help.
[/li][li]Since the Jokers and the Blanks are both servants of Lady Luck, they frequently have meetings with each other. Blanks are the only people who Jokers can freely converse with without being under the orders of Lady Luck. (But perhaps it's all her doing anyways.)[/li]
