IC:
Name: Ivan Braginsky
Age: 25
Personality: Despite his size, one could say that Ivan is full of fluff. He’s remarkably tall, broad and sated with just the slightest amount of pudge - which, of course, makes him heavy and unable to be easily supported by other people - but he tends to forget this detail of himself. He’ll think he’s able to hug people without crushing them, climb on things without breaking them, squeeze into small places… but there are some things a man of his build just isn’t meant to do. Sitting most peculiarly on an otherwise calm face is his smile, one that will always appear the same no matter what he’s actually feeling behind it. It’s his feeble attempt to spread hope to those around him, to reassure them that he is capable of remaining optimistic and calm under any circumstance, though it’s also a mask worn to hide what he might be feeling inside. Even at the cost of this, he wants nothing more than to see genuine smiles on the faces of everyone, because to him they’re a sign of friendship and acceptance, that there’s no reason to be down. So long as everyone is truly happy, then he won’t feel he has a worry in the world.
Hidden behind the happy façade is all that he has endured throughout his past: traces of depression lie underneath that usual smile, a sensitive touch that can be tapped easily if someone manages to irk him. Sadness developed and built up from his childhood on, he’s grown effective in keeping bottled up inside of him. Sometimes he really does have to force a sunny expression onto his face, though for the sake of himself and others, he keeps any heavy or negative thoughts as far back in his mind as possible.
His quirks and behaviors are something that come off as an odd impression, and whether or not someone knows him well he always will remain an unpredictable person. If something is expected of him, chances are he will do the exact opposite. While his appearance is that of a fully grown and aged man, his mentality hasn’t quite caught up to it. He was never given the chance to completely grow up when he was younger, faced with a childhood that pushed him to his limit and never granted him the leisure that other children were receiving.. it isn’t always to his control, but he makes up for that with a childish mentality unlike most others. Easily discerned by the heightened tone of his voice (though very well capable of reaching unnervingly low volume), cracked laughter, the way that he acts and speaks. He hates using swears and vulgar words especially. His perspective on things is different, usually taking the most optimistic and light-hearted views on things, or thinking in odd ways that might earn him some questioning looks. Though honestly he really can’t tell the difference between right and wrong with some situations, and things that might be strange to others, he will find perfectly normal and acceptable. He’ll often be caught staring at people for reasons that remain vague. It’s something that can worry others, but he just likes to watch and consider people.
Another unexpected quality is that he’s very sensitive, self-conscious and shy about himself. He’s always wearing unnecessary layers of clothing not only to keep himself warm but to hide his body from others, his scarf to hide what blemishes flaw his neck. Things like this are usually out of mind, though if brought up or pointed out to him, he will very easily become flustered - if actually insulted or mocked, rather than responding with something violent, he will most likely just hide behind his convenient scarf. Receiving compliments or babied words such as “cute” will result in the same thing, for he’s bashful and very capable of blushing. While he does yearn for compliments and praise, the chance that he actually meaningfully receives them is so rare that it tends to catch him off guard and leave him too surprised and grateful for words. Being embarrassed is something that just gets him so bashful and frustrated with himself that he will most likely find a chance to leave the room.
He’ll be persistent in saying that he doesn’t mind being alone, considering he has gotten used to it over the past, but there is a near desperation for friendship and company in him. He only wishes to be accepted and be able to show others that he isn’t the intimidating figure everyone seems to think he is, and that he can change from however he used to be. Even if one person shows any sign of being friendly with him, that’s an immediate gift of hope and courage that will set Ivan on making everyone his friend. He does see good in strangers, after all, not one to judge others upon first impression - and he sees that everyone has the potential to become something good and special, no matter what might be lying underneath. He is usually quite blunt and forward in his attempt to make friends, putting forth overbearing affection and showing an obvious incomprehension of what personal space and boundaries even mean. He’s always been unaware to whatever reasons may be as to why others are frightened by him, and why they don’t accept his forwardness, but it’s easy for him to become attached to someone he sees as a potential, mutual friend. His friendships are usually one-sided, after all, because the moment you engage him with company and friendly conversation.. good luck getting him to leave you alone. Being forward and a social butterfly is really the only way he knows how to befriend someone, since nothing else that he does ever works.
A possessive person, jealousy comes naturally to him. If someone or something belongs to him (whether literally or just because he says so), then he will make sure to show it. And he certainly doesn’t like to share anything, whether it is a living person or an inanimate object. His greediness is yet another of his childish qualities, his need to claim and take anything that sparks his interest as his own, and make sure that no one else takes it from him. It’s only in the occasion of a rare mood that he’ll allow a possession of his to be shared or borrowed, otherwise he simply won’t like it when anything of his is touched by someone else. It’s because he’s lost so many things precious to him in the past that he’s become selfish like this, preferring to hold on to the few things that have remained close to him as small, but important sources of happiness, and he doesn’t want anyone to take that from him. In terms of his family, his brother complex can come off as exceedingly overbearing - but it’s from his worry and fear of losing them that he’ll do anything in his power to keep them happy and away from harm. While he does want them to find love and happiness, he’ll crack down on anyone associated with them to make sure that no one intends to treat them poorly.
He can easily be jealous of other people, knowing how likely it is that someone else has had a better childhood than his own.. but he isn’t the type to hold grudges. He’s very accepting of other people and willing to give them advice to help them be happy, even if he doesn’t have the same source of happiness himself. Other people fascinate him, after all, and he’s developed an understanding of how the mind works and a sense of sympathy for those who have experienced the same troubles as himself that he’s always certain he knows just how to lift someone’s mood.
Not only is he forward in making friends, but in romance as well. He isn’t always picky in his choice of partner and will be forward when it comes to starting a relationship, most often the one that’s making the first move. His mind isn’t very intimate though and sexual references tend to go right over his head, but it certainly isn’t unheard of that he is experienced when it comes to actual intimate situations. When he is in a relationship he’ll be very careful about keeping the other person with them, not doing anything that will hurt them or cause them to be as afraid of him as everyone else. It can occasionally be traced to a fear of himself and that he might lose control and do something to cause harm when most unwanted.. but he chooses not to see the flaws in his relationships, focusing on the positives and doing what he can to keep people close to him. He showers others in affection and makes sure to keep the smile on their faces, often doing things that are very cheesy: using ridiculous pet names, giving and making gifts for people. Though he’s very aware of when he does fall in love, and no matter how overbearing, uncomfortable and awkward he might be, he doesn’t give up easily on his feelings. He’s always afraid of making people upset with or mad at him, and his reaction is usually tearing up and doing everything in a panic to make people forgive him.
He’s oblivious to an extent, and his English is very poor, since he hasn’t caught up to modern expressions and slang. If there’s anything he’s unable to understand, it’s sarcasm. He believes sarcasm is true no matter what tone someone uses, and so with that, he is pretty gullible. He’ll fall for ridiculous beliefs and sayings and will usually want to try these things out for himself, toying with an experimental side of himself. He takes things literally and ends up being confused by modern day speech, and if he hears a new word or phrase spoken, he’ll repeat it and use it on unsuspecting people to sound like he fits in. But it usually sounds silly in his accent and ends up making people laugh at him, especially if they don’t even understand him. His own speech can be blunt, and sometimes he’ll say things that can come off as surprising and worrying to others, but he’ll find it perfectly normal.
Things such as the sun, beaches and gardens are things commonly seen by others, but something that will easily distract and interest him. They’re things he didn’t get to see often when growing up, among many others, so he’s appreciative of simple scenery and all the little things that don’t seem as significant to other people. He thinks people shouldn’t take such luxuries they have for granted. Receiving any sort of gift or being shown a new place can completely brighten him and make his day, and he’ll harbor these little moments like they’re meant to be preserved for eternity, acting as a reminder that there’s someone who cares enough about him to give him these things. Since it’s usually him doing all the acts of kindness, it’s a rarity for him to receive them on his end.
With all the drinking he’s done throughout his life, he’s grown a strong tolerance for alcohol. He can drink vodka from the moment he wakes till the end of the day, really, without feeling too intoxicated.. though that isn’t always the case. He’s unpredictable when drunk, and usually it takes him at least a bottle or two to completely reach that stage. Under this intoxication he’ll often come to slurred, blabbering nonsense, rambling on about things that don’t make sense and that he’ll never be able to explain when sober, doing things he might regret if he remembers the next morning. He can become more silly and sociable than usual, more clingy and affectionate, without any boundary that he has when sober. Though whatever becomes of him, the truth lies in the fact that he drinks alcohol to better cope with everything, drowning any sort of trouble or pain with a bottle.
And even when that smile is ever present on his features, he does have quite a temper. There are things that can easily defuse him like a bomb, and his reactions will always be on impulse, possibly ending in something he didn’t mean to do. Though that’s one thing that can be offsetting about him, is that his expression never really explains what he’s actually feeling, or whether or not he really is irritated. His anger is usually released and taken out on people or whatever else happens to be in his way, and once his temper is actually cooled down, he’ll either pout for the rest of the day or return to his usual calm and content demeanor as if nothing happened. He doesn’t always feel guilt or sympathy for the things he does, especially when it comes to harming someone as a result of his anger. Seeing other people upset or hurt is usually a source of entertainment for him, since his mind simply doesn’t wrap around the concept of empathy. He has a very low tolerance of pain and tends to fear it in general, just as strongly as he fears death - so in that case, he prefers not to get into fights, and always does his best to keep peace and happiness among himself and everyone around him.
He isn’t a very vengeful person and doesn’t want people to have to suffer through what he did, knowing that no one - whether or not they’re an “enemy” - deserves to go through the same type of pain that he has. After all, he understands that with his desperation to make friends, holding grudges and getting revenge won’t help his attempts to require better relationships. If something happened in the past, then he can forget about it and move on, as a chance to start anew and make things better again. He won’t forget the past completely, but he knows it’s better to move on if you want things to heal. So long as he receives a fair apology, he’ll be willing to make amends.
He can be a competitive person and a sore loser in the face of defeat, and will always push himself not to give up on something. He wants to try and show people that he hasn’t been weakened by what’s happened to him in the past, even if it is the truth, and hates being pushed to the point of surrender. It can be easy for him to get carried away with doing something, especially an act that he might not see as wrong, but there is a chance of getting him to listen if someone is persistent in speaking to him about it. He may seem sadistic and dark at times, but he isn’t one to forget that he does indeed have a good heart, and he knows how to put that to good use. He can be especially sweet and affectionate even when he’s childish, and contrary to what people often believe, he does have sensitive feelings and a strong sense of care for others. He’s endured such turmoil throughout his life that has left him unstable against his will, and his actions reflect that.. but that’s also something he can’t ever reverse or fix in any way, so he has no choice but to live with it. A rather complex being, in all, past intimidating mindsets and appearances that one may deem psychopathic, someone who’s as warm and bright as a sunflower yet unintentionally savage like the midst of winter.
Three Choices For Positions:
King of Clubs | Although it might be a scary thought to put Ivan and power together, he's a very strong and trustworthy ruler. His father would have trained him since a young age to learn how to both be a proper ruler and advocate, a strong man who would know how to handle himself and an entire Kingdom. Even if he might like to pick on his servants and other adorable little castle keepers, he'll be very patriotic and loving to everything that has to do with his Kingdom of Clubs. He'll care for the Queen and make sure he's safe, and he's intelligent enough that he'll be able to keep up with the task of advising and keeping his Kingdom under control, thinking up ideas and making changes that will help keep his Kingdom safe and thriving. He'll praise the members of his court (if that's what you call it, I'm so used to KiP I'm sorry) for doing good and make sure they're doing their tasks as they should. And of course, he'll be all for keeping peace and good relations with the other Kingdoms. Who would want to mess with a King as big and scary as him, anyway?
Ace of Anywhere | Ivan isn't too good at following orders from others, though he would make a good strategic commander in leading his army through various tactics. As aforementioned he would be dutiful in keeping the Royals protected and safe, just as he protects his siblings with his usual brother complex. He's good at keeping people under control and making sure that they behave, and he'd also be a relentless fighter when the right time comes, skilled in the use of various weapons. Here, once more, his father was seen as the strong warrior type who wanted his son to follow in his footsteps, and would have trained Ivan to use various weapons and all the best strategies when it comes to battle.
Three of Anywhere | In this case, Ivan would have the profession of tending to any kingdoms' gardens. He's good working with various garden tools and does know a lot about flowers, and of course he loves taking any chance he can get to go out into that warm sun and wear his fancy adorable sun hat! He puts care into gardening, and would also love to be able to raise his own flowers to sell. He keeps a pink apron around for when serious garden times arise, yes. The sweeter side of his mother would come in here, whereas she was the one who helped taught Ivan more.. simple things like gardening.
