Three Choices For Positions:
- The Undertaker (Born Underground)
A joker—a pun—the Undertaker is a role that suits the witty and snarky Romanian woman. The reason why I chose this role is because I imagine Undertakers to be hooded figures, much like the Charon from Greek Mythology: mysterious and macabre with ambiguous loyalties. And whadya know--Romania. Anyway, leading someone by candlelight to the depths of the unknown is undoubtedly a position of power; Nicoleta will enjoy knowing that a life is literally in her hand in a form of a flickering flame, one so fragile and whimsy that a breath can blow it out. What makes her suitable for this role is just her no-nonsense character. Because of her whimsical perception of people, she can take newbies with all of their wailing drama and manage to stand them for an extended period of time (no promises on them being able to stand her, that is). In addition, Nicoleta has a rather harsh judgment of people and is the type to scrutinize (cardboard Romanian box face, dude). If she likes the person, then she likes them until the end; by the same token, if she doesn’t, then she won’t give them a chance. Sounds cruel but there is some logic: she is the gatekeeper, and she thinks that those who refuse cooperation with her won’t help sustain productivity in the community. Though her personality might be a bit of a rude awakening to those who had just freshly descended, it is more or less of a message that is: ‘adapt or die’. I believe this is crucial for the community of the Underground because it can help characters transition into this new life. Nicoleta can be one hell of a person—a few days alone with her in the dark can change you. I MAKE SURE OF IT.
Because she relishes in the feeling of importance in a life-or-death situation, leading someone through a deadly labyrinth is not entirely from the goodness of her heart. Nope. More like she is doing this for fun. The fact that she had wished for ‘fun’ is the reason why she is the joker, the Trickster, the Undertaker. Since she was born in the Underground, where things had been illuminated to reveal its lackluster lifestyle, she had yearned for excitement, new faces, and adventure—something that was beyond the safety of the walls. Her restless nature stirred great passion for danger, but of course—much of it was rather romanticized. Somehow the stars aligned and Lady Luck answered Nicoleta and blessed her with this dual-edged luckiness and honor (MEH) of being the Undertaker. It’s not as great as she thought it would be but she can’t do a thing now since she has a contract. So, here you have the very fun Undertaker who has her own definition of a couple of words. This is pretty much your average tnd Nico with a bit more spunk and less angst.
- Fortune Teller (Born Underground)
HAHA you are in luck for this fortune teller. Cus it is a scam. Mostly, unless she really tries. Since Romania is a part of a magic trio, I thought it’d be natural to apply it to Nicoleta. But I’m going to tweak it here so that she doesn’t have supreme divine black magic of Eyjafjallajokull. I think it’d be cute if she does use magic but only uses the flashy ones, not the ones that actually hurt people. Her magic will probably net a lot of attention to her little macabre fortune teller hut. She will be pretty damn believable, since most of her nature revolves around deception and manipulation. Here, it will be shown in a sweeter light so she can get money into her pocket. This job appeals to her love of the paranormal and the otherworldly as well as her love to trick people. It’d be an interesting twist if she doesn’t have direct control of fate (physically being out there and kicking booty—making strategic genius things) and have her ‘narrate’ fate—god I don’t know how to explain this because it is really late. More or less, this would be more of a ‘standby’ role if this occupation is chosen. Damn you know. I am pretty sure I will make this my backstory if the Undertaker is chosen FFFFF. Christ. Ok.
Handmaiden for Clubs
Nicoleta isn't the type to serve people but this job mainly appeals to her tendency to protect those she cares for. It seems to be popular for handmaidens to be the 'hidden blade'. Well, have a Nicoleta. This might be a rather unflattering occupation but it will still be rather interesting to see her adjust. I cannot think up of anything else.
