IC:
Name: Arthur William Kirkland
Age: 23
Personality:
Intelligent: His best and most powerful weapon is his brain. When talking to him, one can tell that he knows what he’s talking about. He may not be an expert on all subjects, but he knows more than most people on any topic that happens to interest him, and issues that need to be addressed. He not only sounds smart, he is smart.
Charming: Well, depending on the situation, he can be. In the public eye he’s definitely a lot of charm, but even with friends he’ll do his best to be a “gentleman”. He’s not going to be the one to insult someone else first, and he’ll help people out due to a generous heart.
Cynical: Despite everything, Arthur’s cynical. While others believe that if something’s not broken, you shouldn’t fix it, Arthur believes that everything is broken and needs to be fixed. To him, there’s always something wrong, something that can be done better. He has no patience for people who are motivated by nothing but their own lust for power, though it can be said that he has the same want for it.
Witty: Arthur’s a chap with a strange sense of humor, but one that’s both intelligent and witty. If you insult him, expect to get insulted back with a cutting tongue and an amused smile. His wit has managed to get him out of rather sticky situations.
Argumentative: He’s not going to back down if someone challenges his ideals. He grew up getting into heated arguments anyway, so it’s just something that carried over into adulthood.
Confident: Arthur is an extremely confident person. He’s not afraid to get up and do speeches, nor is he afraid to challenge another person’s opinion or ideas if they don’t make sense to him.
Logical: Arthur’s, more or less, a logical person. He weighs all the pros and cons before making heavy handed decisions. If something doesn’t make sense—like a law—he’ll rebuke it and make a sound argument against it, shooting down any counterarguments with pure logic.
Ambitious: He’s always been ambitious. He’d been a child of high hopes and set his mind towards making some of his dreams come true. He’s prepared to pit everything against the world in order to achieve his goals, and he aims for the highest he knows he can reach.
Persistent (stubborn): Arthur is as stubborn as a mule. He will not ever give up without a fight, pushing himself past his own limits and refusing to show weakness to even his closest friends, of which he has little. However, this stubbornness has allowed him to be successful at things that others would not. If he was not persistent, he wouldn’t be at the place he is today. This can both be a good and bad thing, however, as one can garner many enemies through being persistent.
Prideful: This is more or less a family trait. Arthur will not take insults lightly and will counter with his own method of defense, which is insulting right back, usually. He's sharp, he's bitter, and he's unforgiving to someone that intentionally and unreasonably injures his pride.
Closed off: He may seem confident, but Arthur rarely shares what he’s feeling, especially if it’s not good. He hides behind a mask that he crafted for himself as a teenager when he learned that saying too much gave others fuel to hurt him. He adopted the saying “Keep calm and carry on”, doing exactly that: he carries on. This ends up being detrimental to his health.
Three Choices For Positions: King of Spades ; Joker ; Nine of Spades
EXPLAIN Your Three Choices: King of Spades: I have no excuses other than that I wanted King Arthur (hahaha cries). But really, Arthur would be a brilliant king. He's born to rule, born to lead, knows how to handle himself and his kingdom's affairs. And he cares about his people. For without citizens, there is no kingdom, and without a kingdom, what is there to be king of? Anyway, Arthur was been the son of an adviser with the intention of being a knight. He involved himself in his father's politics by his own decisions, inadvertently grooming himself to be his father's heir, despite not having held any hope of being one. One thing led to another, Arthur proved himself through many kingly tasks to be a good choice as an heir to the throne.
Joker: Another one of Mini's many whims. But Arthur as a Joker would be an interesting angle to play. He'd be elusive (something he'd have no trouble with), get to do what he wants (which he enjoys), doesn't have to ally himself with any particular kingdom (which is great when people are having dumb fights), and isn't always trusted, but that's cool, because he wouldn't trust many others either. He might have a sad life, but Arthur's always been a bit of a loner, so no big whoop, really. (Really.) In this version of Arthur's pitiful life, he came from a well-off family. His father died of disease and his mother vanished without a trace, and he ended up with no claim to his family's property. It was taken from him and he was cast out to find his own way. But times were tough and work was hard to get, so he oftentimes went hungry for many nights in a row, and trouble found him everywhere he went. Life got so bad that he contemplated pissing off someone just so they would slay him and end his pitiful existence, since he was too frightened of what would happen if he ended his own life.
Nine of Spades: This is one I literally just tacked on at the end because I didn't have any other choices and frankly being an ambassador is pretty damn cool. Arthur would travel the kingdoms and make peace with others in the land. Or something along those lines. He's good at that stuff. Persuasive, stubborn, and argumentative. He's sure to keep the peace. Here, Arthur would've left home early to travel around a bit and see the other kingdoms. His father was an ambassador, and Arthur, being interested, got himself involved in the job his father did. So he followed good ol' dad's footsteps.

He was born to a family of high status; his father was the favorite adviser of the king, his mother was a handmaiden, and he had one younger brother. Arthur William Kirkland lived a good life. He wanted for nothing and his parents didn't care too much what path he chose in life, so long as it was an honest one.
Knighthood was something all young men aspired to be, and Arthur was not exempt. As early as he was allowed, he followed the knights around as a squire and a helping hand, watched their practices and cleaned their gear. He didn't mind; he loved to watch the fights and atop their horses the knights looked majestic and honorable. Arthur wanted to be like them: chivalrous, honorable, loyal, and strong. He wanted to become the Ace of Spades, be respected for his skill in battle and be known as best in the land.
But Arthur was intelligent and had a never-ending thirst for knowledge. Not all the knights made good conversation and many lacked common sense, so Arthur found himself involved in his father's work. Politics of the Kingdom of Spades became a frequent topic at the dinner table. Somehow, Arthur gave his parents the impression that he wanted to follow in his father's footsteps.
Eventually, Arthur stopped being a helper of the knights and picked up his own sword, training alongside them. He picked sword fighting up quickly and his technique was admired. He was quick, he was precise, and he was smart. As he got better, Arthur lost to others less and less. The talk was that Arthur would win the competitions held, and become the next Ace. In fact, that was his intention, at the young age of 20.
Then there was a spat. The king got involved in a small fight with an outside party, likely bandits. They were well armed and knew how to fight. Despite being younger than most and having had less training, Arthur was sent out with a small company of troops in order to end the issue.
Arthur was a lion in battle. His roar was small but his bite was big, and he was a force to be trifled with. At the end of the battle, the soldiers came out the victors with Arthur's sword pointed at the leader's neck. That day, Arthur had proven himself to be a knight worthy of the title "Ace of Spades".
But the King had been keeping an eye on him, and the skill and knowledge Arthur possessed was enough for the dying king to choose him as the heir. The king and queen had no heir chosen, and had been looking long for a good king. Arthur's father often talked of him to the king and queen and they had gotten interested. Arthur not only possessed the skill to fight, but the knowledge of an adviser. Surely he would be able to rule.
The honor was great, but Arthur felt uneasy at heart. Did he really wish to be king? He wanted to be a knight, fight for his kingdom, but he couldn't do that from the throne room.
But he soon realized that fighting was unimportant compared to the lives of the kingdom's citizens, and the realization only hit him when his little brother vanished without a trace. Months went by and he was not recovered, no body found. Arthur discovered how fragile the human life really was, how easily someone could be gone the next day.
When he was crowned, he made his first priority keeping his people safe. He avoided battles whenever possible and started to build peaceful relations with the other kingdoms.
