EXPLAIN Your Three Choices:
Five of Diamonds- Well Elise and Lili are friends everywhere, this would be the best way the two of them could be together. Nothing would make her happier than seeing her friend being happy and she knows Lili will be a great queen. Elise would be really protective of the queen and would not think twice about killing someone that tries to assassinate Lili. Bodyguard and handmaiden all in one. Part of the reason she would be Lili's handmaiden is she would be too jealous seeing someone else that close to her friend. She may be a wee bit possessive.
Ace of Diamonds- Elise would make one amazing champion. Think of Brienne from Game of Thrones, except a lot shorter. Despite her quiet nature she can take charge when she wants to, and can become very protective of what she thinks is hers; the people and the kingdom. Her strategic and intelligent mind would be a huge asset to the kingdom, and she would always prepare for the worst case scenario so nothing caught her off guard. The king might not get as much security as the queen though. Sorry.
Eight of Diamonds- Elise would probably be from a noble house, perhaps a duchess (after the Duchy of Luxembourg) or from a poor noble house. No relation to anyone in the royal family and is probably from the middle of nowhere in the kingdom. She could still be friends with the Queen this way since she could enter the court, maybe even be a lady in waiting to Lili.

Elise Marie Godelieve Heleentje Segher is the second daughter and last child to Lord Hendrikje and Lady Janneke, of House Segher. Her family lived on a small patch of land in the east of the kingdom of Diamonds, and was one of the poorer noble houses. They did not have much but they were still prideful in their family name. As a young child she grew up learning proper etiquette of a lady but since she was not in good marrying position she was allowed to take up other hobbies her parents approved of and they doted on their daughter. Her fondest memories were watching her father teach her elder brother how to use a sword, techniques she practiced with a wooden dagger later when no one was watching. A studious and serious child, she spent most of her time practicing her letters and learning to read. At an early age she vowed to be literate and as a result, she didn't spend much time socializing with the other children in the same village.
Their status changed however when Elise's uncle, a knight, died heroically in battle protecting a high ranking noble. Their family was honoured for his bravery, boosting their position slightly in the court. It was enough though to send Elise to the capital when she was 9 to a boarding school, where she would learn to be a proper lady. Unfortunately she was not suitable to become a lady in waiting, so Elise was place in the handmaiden stream of study. It was not a position that placed her below everyone, but rather one of honour. There is no greater duty than serving your King and Queen after all. Even though she excelled in her studies, Elise had a hard time making friends with the rest of the girls in her class and was picked on by the girls in her dormitory. Every girl wants to fit in, so Elise tried everything to be their friend, anything to please them and make them like her. Most of the time it meant doing their studies for them, but they liked her right? All she wanted was for them to like her. They would tease her relentlessly for her crying, but eventually enough was enough. Elise refused to cry anymore, a lady was always calm after all, and made it very clear she would not tolerate their bullying anymore.
Things changed for the better for her at the age of 14. Elise was assigned to the Queen candidate, a girl her age named Lili Zwingli. As she was being trained in the ways of the court, Elise shadowed her and attended to the other girl's every need. Lili wasn't a demanding girl, and Elise to felt at home and comfortable around her. It was easy for the two of them to forge a friendship and close bond. Elise finally found someone who accepted her and Lili gained a friend she could confide in. For 5 years or so Elise lived with their family and watched over her friend, graduating from school and becoming a proper handmaiden.
When the Queen disappeared, everything was turned upside down. Lili was next in line and before Elise could fully comprehend what was going on they were moved into the castle. The castle of all places! Sometimes she thought she would wake up and realize everything was a dream. Now though, she was on her own, no one correcting her if she did something wrong. It was a lot of pressure and she would have cracked under it if it wasn't for the control she developed over herself in school. Lili believed in her though, and that gave her the strength to be confident in herself. She has grown into a fine handmaiden, one her friend and her family can be proud of. No matter what, Elise will not let her dearest friend down.
